New Guy^3 has been trained, I have three work days off, two of my best friends are visiting from Toronto, life is good. How’s everyone else today?

Today is our company-wide antiharassment training. It’s a thing we never did for about 6 years until recently, in response to a handful of newer hires that act unprofessionally. So instead of addressing those people individually - firing them - we will have passive-aggressive meetings with all staff. Really it’s an hour or more of our rules of the road here: “don’t be a dick.”
The training something that is definitely good for a company to do in general. We have some shitheads in the building. I think we should just hire less shitheads is all.

I feel that. I’ve had one or two new hires make out of line comments, and I told them to knock that shit out, because while I can’t do anything, if our supervisor hears that kind of nonsense that they’ll be out the door before they know it.

The PNW does passive aggressive better than anywhere else in the country.

I have to watch the same video every year and it takes a couple hours to get through. Ive sat through it at least 5 times and it never changes.

The university makes everyone do four or five hours worth of online courses covering this type stuff every year, and after the first couple of years they made it so that you couldn’t just skip to the test at the end of each module and answer the questions that mostly boiled down to our golden rule here. I get it for new hires, but after eight years I’m pretty confident in my ability to not be a dick or commit blatant FERPA violations. I think I’d trade for an hour long meeting.
